Baking Begun

I think I was in too much of
a hurry to get the oven closed,
thus the blur.

I asked Uncle Si and Cousin Cliff
what they missed most about
our non-simplified Christmas.
Both missed my buffet of
quick breads.  Well, they are
all from boxes, so far.
I did look for overripe bananas,
but came up empty.
I have some squash to cook.
I even have canned pumpkin.
So far, besides Auntie's fruitcake,
I have made banana bread from
a box, lemon poppyseed bread from
boxes and here are

cranberry bread (made with orange juice
instead of water, which is why it was
yellow) and date bread, which Uncle Si likes.
Cousin Cliff and I could cheerfully
skip that one. :)

I tried spraying with olive oil
this time, instead of greasing
the pans with shortening.
I'm going back to greasing.
Then, when I loosen the bread
from the sides of the pans
with my handy dandy plastic
knife left from some stop
at Wendy's, and turn
out the loaves,
it will be less likely that I
will find chunks of my
bread in the bottom of my pans. :/

Oh, well, it still tasted good! :)

Any baking going on in your kitchen?

  1. Over 60 peanut butter blossoms, several dozen chocolate crinkles, a stash of turtles candies homemade, and chocolate peppernint cakeballs. That should satisfy every one of the six kids and husband! I did give some away. I'm also hoping eva girl will mail me a cheese danish recipe.....
Your breads look tasty! My kids love lemon poppyseed muffins.
They never last too long here. Lol!

    1. :) Wow! I don't dare make much candy and cookies, any more. Guess who eats too many of them. Yes, I do. :/

    1. It sure was yummy! I need to bake some more, today. I came in here to rest and relax when my tummy objected to our special breakfast, this morning. That's over and now I need to get going! :)
      Oh, merry Christmas, to you!
